What is Reiki?

Reiki is a spiritual healing art with its roots in Japanese origin. The word Reiki comes from the Japanese word (Rei) which means “Universal Life” and (Ki) which means “Energy”. Reiki is not affiliated with any particular religion or religious practice. It is not massage nor is it based on belief or suggestion. It is a subtle and effective form of energy work using spiritually guided life force energy. 

Energy treatments are given by a practitioners hands which the energy flows into the client.  The client is usually lying on a massage table, but treatments can also be given while the client is seated or even standing.  The client remains fully clothed.  The practitioner places their hands near the client’s body in a series of hand positions and varies locations.  These include positions around the head, shoulders, arms, chest, stomach, knees and feet.  Other, more specific positions may be used based on the clients needs.  Energy assist the body in balancing and releasing stress, which in turn relaxes and energizes the client.  The intention is to create deep relaxation, to help speed healing, reduce pain, and decrease other symptoms you may be experiencing.
