Handmade Cold Process Soap

What is cold processed Soap? Cold Process is the act of mixing fixed oils (common oils include Olive, Coconut, and Palm) with an alkali (Sodium Hydroxide or Lye). The end results is a handmade luxurious skin cleansing bar of soap.

Included: All ingredients/ supplies and equipment necessary for class participation will be provided. Participants will take home 1 pounds of soap, equivalent to a family pack of handmade soap by you.
Bring to class: Participants will need to bring an apron and disposable bag to carry home your soap in. Comfortable attire is highly recommended.
Class Agenda:
• Discover the history of soap making.
• Learn the skin care benefits of oils used in making your own soap.
• Become familiar with the safety practices in soap making.
• Learn what equipment and tools are needed to make soap.
• Get step by step instructions on making 3 basic sodium hydroxide soap recipes using milks, palm free and olive oil.
• Learn how to create your own soap recipes using a soapers calculator.
• Learn how to use additives in your soap such as clays, herbs, oatmeal, honey and beeswax.
• Learn how to use herbs and essential oils to customize scents of your soaps. Ways to package your soaps as gifts.
• A list of local and preferred ingredient suppliers are provided.
